Band of Bays is a logo I designed for a horse farm, Crystal Lake Farm in Gray, Maine. All of the horses at the farm are the color Bay, so owner of the farm wanted a playful and fun logo that played off of that fact. She wanted it to have a Western Wild West feel, with the type of aesthetic that old Wanted Posters used to have. The font choice, appropriately named Boots and Spurs, evokes feeling of the West, wild horses and cowboys. She wanted the horse to be abstract and striking, almost dragon-like, which can be seen in the flowing elements of the mane. The accents on either side of horse's head adds a juxtaposition to the more rebellious, western feel of the font, creating an ornateness that contributes to the idea of being a "band" or part of an exclusive club.
